Welcome to the FLA Blog!

Welcome to the Florida Library Association Blog (http://www.flalib.blogspot.com/). The FLA Blog was created because it can become a powerful tool for promoting FLA activities and act as a forum to highlight other issues relating to libraries throughout Florida and beyond.

If you are an FLA member and would like to contribute to the blog, please read the Acceptable Use and Copyright Statement and the Policy Statement and then send an email to mairn.chad_at_spcollege.edu to request a blog account. Once an email is received, an email invitation from Blogger explaining how to set-up your account will be in your inbox. (Screencast Tutorial)

What is a blog?
A blog is a web page that is organized by dated entries and similar to an online diary.

I have an account, so how do I post to the blog?
Once you login at http://www.blogger.com/ you will see a “Dashboard” where you can create a new post.

Why didn’t my comment display on the blog?
The FLA blog manager moderates comments, so they do not publish instantaneously. Check back in about 24 hours and the comment should be there.

What are post labels?
Blogger refers to categories as labels, which simply help to organize the blog’s content. Please limit the use of labels to something fairly descriptive. For example:

1. Legislative
2. Technology
3. Youth
4. Genealogy
5. Continuing Education
6. Miscellaneous

Is it possible to have updates from the FLA blog sent directly to me?
Yes! A great blogging feature is that one does not need to remember to visit a blog. In fact, blog content can be automatically delivered to you thanks to blog aggregators and RSS feeds. More information …

Please let me know what you think of the FLA Blog and if you are interested in contributing to it.

Thank you,

Chad Mairn

Great idea, but I don't have a laptop... just out of curiosity, will there be internet access available at the conference?

Thank you! Re: Internet Access. I know there is Internet access at the hotel, but I am not sure if it is free. You may want to visit the front desk of the hotel or a ask a fellow librarian.
