Any Means Necessary: Beyond Interlibrary Loans

Resource Sharing Workshop Open To All!

SAVE THE DATE!

Monday, Sept. 24, 2007
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Crowne Plaza
10221 Princess Palm Ave.
Tampa, FL 33610

Does your patron want something you don’t have? You may soon have hundreds of new ways to obtain it for him. Join us to discuss the exciting future of interlibrary loans, which includes getting materials for our patrons quickly and by any means necessary, and delivering those materials to our patrons in a way that is most convenient for them.

This could mean ordering a DVD from Netflix and having it mailed directly to the patron’s house, or purchasing a book from Amazon.com and giving the patron the option of keeping it or offering it to circulation.

To stay relevant in a world where our patrons can get anything they want with the click of a mouse, we must consider going drastically above and beyond traditional interlibrary loans to get them what they want.

More information is coming soon, but in the meantime, be sure to mark this on your calendar!

Sounds like a fantastic workshop. Well, I just received an email from the NGC4LIB list that introduced me to the "Get It" button. Check it out at: http://www.rethinkingresourcesharing.org/getit.html
